Ukraine’s Independence Day is approaching, and this year is a special one: 35 years! We are celebrating it together with you at Augustusplatz in Leipzig.

In the nearly five years since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has shown what ingenuity and resilience are capable of. The significant expansion of domestic drone production has changed the course of many things and clearly demonstrates how technological innovation has become a cornerstone of Ukraine’s resistance.

Ukraine’s civil society is equally strong. Despite the war, Ukraine remains a vibrant democracy in which, ultimately, the people hold the decisive power. The ongoing protests in Kyiv and other cities once again demonstrate how active and vocal Ukrainian society remains, even in the midst of war.

However, russian attacks on cities and civilians continue, making continued support particularly important.
