For the defense of Ukraine! Against russian fascism!

On 14 October, Ukrainians celebrate Defenders’ Day to honor those who defend their homeland. On this traditional day of the Cossacks, we commemorate the courage and heroism of all Ukrainians who defend the national self-determination of the Ukrainian people as well as the territorial integrity and independence of the Ukrainian state. We too want to mark this day in Leipzig to express our gratitude and respect for the heroes who defend Ukraine against russian fascism, willingly risking – or having already given – their own lives. In doing so, they also protect us, who live as citizens and residents in peaceful Germany. Paying tribute to the Ukrainian heroes fighting against the russian war of annihilation is the very least we can do here in Leipzig – but it must not end there.
Not fine words and well-intentioned gestures, which are common in German politics toward Ukraine, but only weapons can stop and decisively defeat russian fascism. That is why on this day we want not only to honor the defenders of Ukraine, but also to fight for greater and stronger military support for Ukraine from Germany and the western world. A democracy that is not capable of defending itself externally cannot be secure internally either. The federal government is obliged not to particular party interests, but above all to the protection and defense of German democracy. At the forefront of putinism’s war against the democracies of the western countries currently stands Ukraine.
Therefore, we demand that our government finally support Ukraine consistently and supply its defenders with all necessary weapons, in particular Leopard 2 main battle tanks, so that the Ukrainian territories occupied by russia can be liberated and the Ukrainian civilian population suffering under russian occupation terror can be rescued. Only by restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity and decisively defeating the russian aggressor can lasting peace be achieved – not only in Ukraine itself, but throughout Europe.
So come to our rally and let Leipzig’s market square shine in blue and yellow!
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
Heroes do not die! Heroes never die!
