#4 Café Ukraїna

Dear friends of Ukraine,
At our last meeting, we spoke with literary scholar Yurko Prokhasko about Lviv and Germany. This time, we invite you on a literary journey between Leipzig and Kharkiv.
On October 22 at 6:00 PM, there will be a reading of the novel by our friend and activist Ihor Doroshenko, “Vitya Niemetz, or Instructions for Repairing Compasses.”
Vitya Niemetz tells a story from Ukraine before February 24, 2022, before russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. It is full of humor and dynamism, while also raising complex questions faced by today’s young Ukrainian generation. The relationship of Ukrainians with their homeland—especially those born in independent Ukraine—sometimes turns out to be closer than they themselves realize. In recent years, many of them have ended up abroad—some fleeing the war, others seeking better opportunities for education and careers. Vitya Niemetz is one of them.
After the reading, Ihor will be happy to answer all your questions, and everyone will have the opportunity to share their own story.
